Let's talk Marketplace 34: How to expand on European marketplaces
Shownotes
FULLY IN ENGLISH!
Internationalisation inside Europe is easy-peasy, right? Just hit a few buttons in Amazon's seller central or in Zalando's partner tools and you're set to go? Wrong! While many American brands consider Europe to be one unified market with one set of rules, there are so many nitty-gritty-detail differences that Valerie needs to start a list. Think logistics, think currencies, think taxes, regulations, return rates, pricing, customer care levels… even for German brands selling to France the differences can be jarring. But it doesn't stop there. Even within Europe, the cultural mindset differs hugely between two countries which leads to different tastes and customer expectations. Try selling a swimsuit which is best-selling in Germany to Portugal for example - won't work. 40 minutes of "what to think about when internationalising" just fly by, and by the end Ingrid and Valerie realise: Today's episode needs to be Part One of a full blown series. Because they could keep talking for hours.
